Jazz Night At LCHS on March 9

In an unusual collaboration, the acclaimed La Cañada High School Jazz Band will perform in a joint concert with the Pasadena City College Swing Band at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 9 in the LCHS Auditorium, 4463 Oak Grove Drive.

The evening, directed by LCHS Music Instructor Jason Stone, LCHS Band Director Susan Hamre, and PCC Music instructor and LCF resident Dennis Kaye, will feature lively music for the entire family. The LCHS Jazz Band roster includes senior trombone player Nicky Moura, who recently was selected for the California Band Director's Association All-State Band, a high honor. Other seniors in the Jazz Band are Tyler Ose and Willy Morong, on trombone; Brannon Smith, Philip Paulson and Chris Suk on trumpet; Chris Lucas on drums; Tomi Ueda, tenor saxophone; Evan Key, baritone saxophone, and Eddie Myers, guitar. Other students in the Jazz Band are: Chris Walker, tenor sax; Michael Gee, alto sax; Kevin Kraft, alto sax; Jonathan Lucas, piano; Colin Ring, drums; Peter Asher, Jimmie Myers and Gina Tucker, trumpet; Erik Shaw and Tim Elftman, trombone; and Bo Sagal, guitar.

"It's challenging music and our students have worked hard," said Hamre. "We are looking forward to this unusual opportunity and welcome the PCC Swing Band."
