NATIONAL DELTA GAMMA HONORS LOCAL MEMBER

Lynn White Shelby, longtime Burbank and Glendale resident and active member of the Glendale/Burbank Delta Gamma Alumnae, was honored for community service by the national offices of Delta Gamma. She is the only California woman so awarded this year.

The Oxford Award recognizes alumnae who exemplify the Delta Gammas who serve their communities through volunteer and/or professional activities.

Shelby has served her local alumnae chapter in the capacity of nearly every office including president and served as president of the local American Business Women's Assn.

She is retired after more than 20 years of service with the Glendale firm ACCO Engineered Systems, where she was corporate insurance and safety coordinator.

Shelby was presented her award at the fraternity's Founders' Day on March 3 at the Woodland Hills Country Club.

ARTIST SHOWS WORK IN LOS ANGELES GROUP SHOW

"Finding Value," a new art piece by Glendale artist Srboohie Abajian, is on exhibit in a show titled "Making Meaning" now through March 16 at Gallery 825, 825 N. La Cienega Blvd., Los Angeles.

Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Saturday.

A native of Yerevan, Armenia, Abajian earned her master's degree in fine art in painting at the Art Institute of Armenia. She is a member of the Los Angeles Art Assn. Gallery 825.

She has exhibited in Los Angeles, Yerevan, Helsinki and Leningrad. Her work is in the permanent collection of the United States State Department's Art in Embassies program.

She received awards at the Palos Verdes Art Center in 2004 and VIVA Gallery in 2005. She was selected in 2005 for the Laguna Art Museum's annual exhibition and auction.
