Glendale Fire helps douse basement

The Los Angeles County Fire Department and the Glendale, Burbank and South Pasadena fire departments responded to a basement fire that broke out at a La Crescenta home, on Sunday, said Lt. Carrie Stewart of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Department.

The fire started at about 11:49 a.m. in the basement workshop of a house on 2206 Shields St., Stewart said.

It spread to less than half an acre of the property but fire crews were able to contain the fire by 1 p.m., Stewart said.
