Crescenta Valley Arts Council Launched

The newly formed Crescenta Valley Arts Council was established in January to promote the visual, written and performance arts for the benefit of all Crescenta Valley residents.

March 16, 2007

Residents of the Crescenta Valley are invited to attend an opening gala on May 12 for the recently formed Crescenta Valley Arts Council.

The Arts Council plans to host exciting programs, including theatrical and musical events and art exhibitions, to showcase resident and visiting artists in the Crescenta Valley community. The Arts Council will provide networking through written and internet support, in addition to disseminating all arts-related information occurring within the Crescenta Valley. In the near future, the Arts Council hopes to provide fiscal sponsor services for artists who may not have non-profit designation, as well as provide arts advocacy as it relates to arts and cultural planning within Crescenta Valley municipal jurisdictions. The Arts Council will recognize exceptional artistic achievement within the Crescenta Valley, and will award educational scholarships to promising artists.

The May celebration will showcase the talented pool of local artists and musicians and will pay homage to the rich cultural arts offerings that were once prevalent in the Crescenta Valley. Pre-program activities will include catered hors d'oeuvres, art exhibition, jazz ensemble and dance performances. The program will consist of an eclectic mix of performances including instrumental ensembles, opera, CV High School Charismatics, a Shakespearean theatrical vignette, and poetry composed by California Poet Laureate John Steven McGroarty. Ticket information for the opening gala will be forthcoming.
