The fire broke out near the Oakwood Toluca Hills residential complex east of Barham Boulevard near Universal City, Los Angeles City Fire Department spokesman Ron Myer said.

Two male teenagers, 16 and 17, later turned themselves into Burbank Police officers and said they started the fire, police officials said.

The two were transferred to the custody of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The investigation into the fire and its source is ongoing by the City of Los Angeles Fire Department.

Two Burbank Fire Department engines and battalion chiefs were a part of the initial response to the fire, Burbank Fire Capt. Ron Bell said.

Glendale firefighters were not asked to respond, Glendale Fire Capt. Jim Frawley said.
