If passed, breakfast and lunch prices would go up 25 cents across the board as of July 1, and another 25 cents across the board for 2008-09.
Prices for free and reduced-price meals will not be changed.
The food services program serves an average of 3,225 breakfasts and 12,896 lunches each school day, according to a staff report.
Assuming the number of meals sold each day would not change, raising the price for these meals by 25 cents would generate about an additional $318,000 per year.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The board will likely pass the increases.
CHARITY FEE DECREASE
The board will consider reducing developer fees for the San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity project.
San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity is constructing 11 affordable housing projects at 711 to 717 N. Kenwood St.
The project's cost is estimated at about $3 million and is scheduled to break ground in June.
Developers building projects within school district borders must pay a fee to the school district, on top of various city fees.
Habitat requested the district waive the residential fee — which is $2.63 per square foot — and replace it with the commercial fee — which is $0.42 per square foot.
Current education code requires the school district to waive fees for churches, public facilities, college dormitories, libraries and museums.
The board is allowed to reduce the fee for Habitat for Humanity at its own discretion.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The board is likely to approve the fee reduction.
