Beeline changes could help transit

I have read the articles regarding the proposed changes to the Glendale Beeline ("Residents speak out on Beeline," Tuesday). I, for one, am all for these changes. I ride the Beeline daily and find it to be very effective.

The increase in fare would help to buy new buses and help keep existing buses in running order. I am also in favor of changing the management company that now handles the running of the Beeline.

This would help in replacing some of the drivers that should have been replaced a long time ago.

As far as having all routes pass through the transit center, that is also a good idea. There is a way to have all buses pass through. Just follow the train schedule and have the bus schedule comply with the trains.

The lines 11 and 12 only go to the transit center during the morning and evening , and all other buses can arrive and leave according to the train schedules.

The other way to make things easier for patrons of the Beeline would be to offer a transfer from one line to another at no charge. This is done on the Dash lines in Los Angeles and seems to be very effective.

I will be reading with much interest any new articles on the proposed changes to the Beeline in the future and hope the City Council will do the right thing in any changes it makes to the Beeline.

Manoukian should not be on commission

It is disgraceful that City Council members appointed Rafi Manoukian to the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Commission ("Manoukian reappointed to group," April 26).

Voters sent a clear message. We have seen enough of him.

Traffic control could help on Sundays

Every once in a while, on Sunday mornings, a crowd of sports car enthusiasts assembles outside the restaurant on the southwest corner of Brand Boulevard and Dryden Street.

In the interest of public safety and well-being, it would, I think, be in the best interests of the organizers of these gatherings to hire a couple of uniformed, off-duty police officers to keep the assembled automotive enthusiasts from loitering in the southbound lanes of Brand and blocking the entryways to the adjacent church parking lot.
