More than 200 people showed their support for recipients of the 19th annual Glendale Community College Alumni Awards by attending the event on May 3 at the Oakmont Country Club.
Those honored were college volunteers Paul Locker, Karen Sartoris and Margaret Hammond.
Locker received the Raymond D. Edwards Award of Merit for Career Achievement and Community Service. He is a past president of the Glendale College Foundation and has been a very active member of the foundation for 17 years. His efforts have resulted in more than $2 million in capital appreciation to the Endowment Fund since 2003. Locker is owner and president of Locker Reality Corp and Locker Reality Management.
Sartoris received the J. Walter Smith Award for Distinguished Service to the college. She came to Glendale Community College as a student in 1970. For the next 37 years, she contributed to the college as an athlete, sports fan and supporter of husband Jim Sartoris, longtime Men's Athletic director until his recent retirement.
