CVHS Parents, Seniors Reminded of Prom Plus

May 11, 2007

Crescenta Valley High School seniors only have until May 15 to purchase their prom tickets for the May 26 event at Universal Studios.

With the deadline rapidly approaching, parents and prom go-ers are reminded that with the purchase of a prom ticket is admission to Prom Plus, the post prom event held at the Crescenta-CaƱada YMCA.

Beginning at midnight and continuing until 5 a.m. Sunday morning, Prom Plus attendees will have the chance to play Texas Hold'em, Black Jack and other games in a casino, ride a mechanical bull, scale a rock wall, get a tattoo, and much more. The event culminates at 4:30 a.m. when guests gather for the prize distribution.

Prom Plus is open to all seniors, regardless whether or not they go to prom. For those that do attend prom, Prom Plus admission is included with the cost of their prom ticket. For those that only want to go to Prom Plus, they can pay $20 at the Y door any time after midnight.

Prom Plus was started after a CV high school senior was murdered at a post-prom hotel party in 1991. Community leaders, parents and school administrators joined together to create a fun, yet safe, post prom event.

Parents are urged to encourage their kids to make Prom Plus part of the evening's plans. Last year, over 350 seniors and their guests attended Prom Plus.

Prizes are still needed for this event. Also needed are donations of soda (Pepsi and Coca Cola products preferred). Anyone wishing to make a cash, product or prize donation can contact Robin Goldsworthy at 248-2740 or Kyle Studebaker at 421-1945.
