Memorial Run Held

May 11, 2007

Each year members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department pay tribute by staging a Memorial Run in honor of officers who have perished in the line of duty. The run starts at Sheriff's Headquarters Building in Monterey Park and consists of 56 legs, five to ten miles long, and travels to each sheriff's station in a circuit totaling 313 miles.

Local residents may have seen deputies from the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station running along Angeles Crest Highway and Foothill midday last Sunday as they paid tribute to their comrades who gave all.

The Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Support Group is currently raising funds to build a memorial to two local heroes who sacrificed their lives while protecting others. To learn more, call Sgt. Randy Sulstrom at the CV Station, 248-3464.
