GLENDALE — The following are updates on area athletes in minor league baseball.

A hamstring injury, which was suffered while warming up in the bullpen and thought to be minor, landed Bell on the disabled list on April 26.

According to the 20-year-old, it is his first baseball-related injury in 15 years of playing.

Bell was scheduled to make his third start of the season before suffering the injury.

On May 15, the right-hander was activated from the DL and made the start on Sunday.

Working on a strict 40-pitch count, Bell went two innings, allowing three hits, two unearned runs and a walk and didn't factor into the decision in the Kernels 4-3 victory over Fort Wayne.

Cedar Rapids (21-19) is in fourth place in the MWL Western Division, six games out of first place.

In his last 10 games, Botts is hitting .432 with 16 hits, eight runs, 13 runs batted in and six base on balls. His effort was capped off by a three-for-four night with a home run and five RBIs on May 18.

In Monday's 8-1 loss to Omaha, Botts started in left field and had an RBI double for his team's lone run.

Through Monday's game, Botts was batting .274 with a team-high 34 RBIs, 45 runs and 12 doubles.

The Redhawks (21-22) have gone 9-9 over their last 18 games and sit one-half game out of first place in the PCL American South Division.

Brandon Higelin (Crescenta Valley, 2001) Lake Elsinore Storm, relief pitcher: Pitching as a reliever, the former Falcon has had mixed results on the mound.

In his first season with the Storm, Higelin has posted an 0-2 record and an ERA of 4.29 along with 17 strikeouts in 21 innings pitched.

Over the last 10 games, Higelin has an 0-1 record in 14 2/3 innings pitched and has an ERA of 4.91.

Lake Elsinore (23-22) is currently in a first-place tie with the Inland Empire in the CAL South Division.

Al Quintana (Glendale Community College, 2002) Dunedin Blue Jays, first baseman: In limited action, the former Vaquero has amassed a .239 batting average with seven RBIs and 11 runs scored in 21 games.

His last 10 games have been a bit of struggle, with Quintana posting a .188 batting average with six hits and seven runs scored.
