PTA News:High school raises funds for two charities

June 05, 2007|By Jo Ann Stupakis

Thanks to those who attended the Crescenta Valley High School festival and walk-a-thon, "Invisible Children, Visible Change," on Saturday. After viewing a film at the annual Character Assembly sponsored by the Associated Student Body, many of the high school students were moved to raise money and awareness for two charities — Invisible Children and We Center Gulu in Uganda, Africa.

This student-run event proved to be a wonderful success. Thanks go to the PTSA, Korean Parent Club, Armenian Parent Club and caring students for their participation.

Faculty and administration are to be thanked for guiding student leaders and the many committees. Local businesses were very generous in supporting this program with their donations.

The children in Uganda were touched, as were CV students who were able to communicate on-line in spite of a 10-hour time difference. This was truly a group effort.
