Los Angeles Opera's Education and Community Programs Department will present two Los Angeles Opera artists in a free concert at 2 p.m. at the Brand Library Recital Hall, 1601 W. Mountain St., Glendale. Soprano Tammy Jenkins, tenor Daniel Montenegro, accompanied by pianist Catherine Miller, will perform selections from opera's greatest hits. Author Margaret Ajemian Ahnert will be reading and signing copies of her book, "The Knock at the Door: A Journey Through the Darkness of the Armenian Genocide," at 2 p.m. at the Barnes & Noble of Glendale, 245 N. Glendale Ave., Glendale. Ahnert's memoir recalls how her mother survived the genocide as a teenager during World War I and eventually came to the United States. La Crescenta Presbyterian Church will present a recital featuring music by Bach, Ginastera, Rousell and Marcello performed by members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic to benefit Baja Christian Ministries at 4 p.m. at 2902 Montrose Ave., La Crescenta. Admission is free and child care will be provided. Free-will offerings will support housing construction for the needy in Tijuana.

JUNE 28

A bingo night fundraiser will be at 6:30 p.m. with social hour beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Glendale Elks Lodge, 120 E. Colorado St., Glendale. The event will benefit COPS for KIDS. The entry fee is $10, which includes a bingo sheet for several games and one raffle ticket. Additional raffle tickets and food and refreshments will also be available for purchase. Edvard Grieg Lodge, Sons of Norway, announces its 50th Anniversary Celebration at 3:30 p.m. at the at the Glendale Elks Lodge, 120 E. Colorado St., Glendale. Banquet begins at 5 p.m. The program includes entertainment by well known local vocalist and Edvard Grieg member, Cara Clove, annual awards, raffle and door prizes, music for listening and dancing.
