Eighth Graders Win School Spirit Contest

June 22, 2007|By Mary O'Keefe

Rosemont eighth graders reap the rewards of their winning school spirit as they spent Friday, June 15, eating hamburgers and hot dogs and watching a BMX bicycle program.

Throughout the year the seventh and eighth graders competed in friendly but spirit competition to show their school spirit. Each class had their own t-shirts, which if they wore they received points. They competed in bobbing for apples, tug of war and even musical chairs.

The seventh graders took an early lead in all competitions but in the end, with only minutes left of the last games, the eighth graders scored more points and won the year.

They spent last Friday, eating lunch cooked and served by the Glendale Kiwanis Club and a BMX bike assembly. One of the highlights of the day was Leslie Galban, Rosemont's administrative office clerk, following through with his promise to shave his head if the seventh graders lost.
