Bill Renison, Kim Lorimer, Robert Thomas, Tom McMurray, Gary Wright and the 1959 men’s track team will be inducted into the Glendale Community College Athletic Hall of Fame. The seventh annual induction ceremony and banquet will take place at 5 p.m. March 8 on the campus’ J. Walter Smith Student Center, 1500 N. Verdugo Road, Glendale.

Renison played football and ran track at Glendale college from 1961-62 and was an All-American in football both years. He ranks third in career rushing for the Vaqueros and continued his football career at USC.

Lorimer won the state championship in the 3,000-meter event in 2001 and was an All-American in cross-country and track and field.

Thomas helped the 1974 men’s cross-country team and the 1975 track and field team win state championships. He also won the 1975 World Junior Cross-Country title in Morocco.

McMurray was an outstanding middle distance runner for the Vaqueros in 1963 and 1964 and later coached the cross-country and track and field teams for almost 30 years until he retired in 2005. He helped coach four state championship teams and trained 13 individual state champions.

Wright is a former sports information director at Glendale college, and has worked for almost 30 years with the Seattle Seahawks in administration.

The 1959 men’s track and field team won the first state championship in school history and was coached by Ed Tucker, who was inducted into the hall of fame in 2003 as an outstanding coach.

The Homenetmen Glendale Ararat chapter will organize and host the second annual Glendale Friendship Games from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 13-14 at Glendale High, 1440 E. Broadway, Glendale.

All local schools and nonprofit organizations are encouraged to send their students, members or teams to participate in basketball, chess, volleyball, soccer, table tennis, swimming, basketball and tennis.

A closing ceremony and festival that will feature music, food and dancing will be held Oct. 14.

All registered participants will receive a T-shirt to wear during the games.

A Santa Clarita Valley-based age group water polo club is seeking boys and girls between the ages of 11-13.

The club is run by Crescenta Valley High School girls’ Athletic Director Pete Loporchio.
