Last chance for Beach Bus is today

The Summer Beach Bus makes its stop at Foothill Boulevard and La Cañada Boulevard at 9:15 a.m.; Two Strike Park at 9:25 a.m.; County Library at 9:30 a.m.; Montrose Avenue and La Crescenta Avenue at 9:35 a.m. and Montrose Avenue and Ocean View Boulevard at 9:40 a.m.

The bus leaves Santa Monica Beach at 3 p.m. and returns to the same stops. The bus service will end today.

Music appreciation focuses on history

Ted Stern will teach a series of music appreciation classes, titled “Opera and its history,” from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church, 2700 Montrose Ave., Montrose.

Stern is a professor of music at Glendale Community College. The class will integrate music examples with cultural history to teach students about the evolution of the music.

The class meets every Tuesday through Dec. 11. The cost is $80 for the 15-week class. For more information, call (818) 248-8110.

Temple opening its doors to the community

Temple Sinai of Glendale will host an open house to greet prospective members and introduce the public to the synagogue at 7 p.m. Wednesday at 1212 N. Pacific Ave., Glendale.

The congregation is led by Rabbi Rick Schechter, who combines studies in Judaism with mind-body medicine, stress management and meditation for a different perspective on religious services and education programs.
