We all know that the members of our Glendale Fire Department perform heroic and often dangerous deeds fighting fires and responding to accidents and medical emergencies, but we were grateful for their help the other day on a much lesser scale.
Recently, the woman who for years has helped my wife clean our house caught her finger in the top of a can of metal cleaner, and the harder she tried unsuccessfully to get the finger out, the more it painfully cut into her finger.
Finally, I suggested that she be taken to the nearest fire station (on North Brand Boulevard). There, her finger was expertly and carefully extricated from the can, much to all our relief.
