Congratulations to Margaret Gronfield on turning 80!

Our chamber member, Kathy Carpenter who owns and operates Images Salon, threw a surprise birthday party for her mother on Sept. 28 at the beautiful Castaways Restaurant. Guests came in from the east coast and as far as Ireland. It must have been one great party!

The day is almost here — are you ready? The biggest event in Montrose is upon us and we’re ready to have fun. Still don’t know? OKTOBERFEST is this Saturday, Oct. 6 and it is going to be a great day. The weather will be perfect, entertainment festive, food delicious and the beer cold. You still have time to pick up your dinner tickets from Schreiner’s and save $1.50 per ticket. The kids can enter the coloring contest and Master or Little Miss Oktoberfest contest. Don’t forget the dog, there’s a best dressed contest for them, too. Bingo will be in the Montrose Travel parking lot starting at 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. The tickets will be $1 per card or $3 for five cards. So plan on visiting little Germany in the blocks of 2300 / 2400 Honolulu Avenue starting at noon and closing at 11 p.m. Remember, it’s free to get in.

Thank you for all those that attended our monthly mixer on Oct. 3 at Citibank. If you missed it, please join us next month on Nov. 7 at the Bank of America from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Artwalk was well attended last month and you will get one more chance this year to attend the last one for 2007. Mark your calendar for Saturday, Nov. 10 and see the beautiful work displayed on Honolulu Avenue.

If you have always thought about joining the chamber but haven’t gotten around to it, now is the time. The chamber is offering a special for businesses to join by waiving the enrollment fee of $25. If registered by Oct. 3. businesses will be included in the new 2008 directory. For our residents who may be interested, you can save $10 and join the chamber for $ 25.
