Zargarian, the fourth seed, started off by rallying from a 6-1 deficit to notch an 8-6 win against 13th-seeded Anastasia Altounian of Burbank. She then earned an 8-5 win against fifth-seeded Leanne Tran of Arcadia.

The second-seeded Librando and Sismundo started off with an easy 8-1 win against 15th-seeded Audrey Yun and Grace Lee of Hoover before recording an 8-2 victory against 10th-seeded Edna Miao and Nicole Gandasutisna of Arcadia.

Glendale Coach Bob Davidson said the Nitros showed they could handle their draws.

“Overall, we played real well,” Davidson said. “We played as good as can be expectd.

“They are all going to be real tough sets Wednesday. Both the singles and doubles can go either way, so it’s a question of who will have the best day.”
