‘Understanding Jewish Prayer’

Rabbi Rick Schechter continues his adult education curriculum at Temple Sinai of Glendale with a four-part series “Understanding Jewish Prayer While Walking Though the New Reform Prayer Book.”

The class meets from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Nov. 14. There is no charge for the class and all are welcome. The temple is at 1212 Pacific Ave., Glendale.

Mother’s day out offered by Baptists

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday morning, except holidays, First Baptist Church at La Crescenta will provide quality care and activities for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years.

Cost is $15 for one child and $10 more per sibling.

For reservations, call the church office at (818) 249-5832 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday a week before the date you want to bring. Spots are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Activities include Bible story curriculum, crafts, singing, snack time, creative expression, outside play and games.

Parents must provide children with a lunch. The church is located at 4441 La Crescenta Ave., La Crescenta.

Babysitting services available at LCPC

On the second Saturday of each month, the youth of the La Crescenta Presbyterian Church provide babysitting on campus for infants to 3-year-olds.

Infants to 3-year olds are taken care of upstairs. Older children are supervised in the student center and basketball court. Adults will supervise the youth and children while they enjoy games, crafts, outside play and a movie.

Your child may eat before they come or bring dinner with them.

At the end of the evening, a basket will be set out to accept donations towards youth missions trips.

The evening starts at 6 and ends at 10.

This is also a great way to get to know babysitters in the community.

In other news, The Daring to Parent class continues at La Crescenta Presbyterian on Wednesday nights through Nov. 14.

The class meets in the sanctuary at 6:30 p.m.

Come early at 5:30 p.m. for dinner in Koopmans Hall.

At 6:30 p.m., children can go intothe classroom and enjoy music, crafts and stories while joining Pat Chambers for a fun parenting class.
