Community input sought for Foothill Boulevard design

November 09, 2007|By Robin Goldsworthy

The L.A. County Department of Regional Planning, with the Crescenta Valley Town Council, is hosting a community information meeting regarding the establishment of a Community Standards District for Foothill Boulevard. The meeting is taking place from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at Rosemont Middle School.

The Town Council has been working on this project for the past five years and the meeting is an important step in deciding what the community desires in the design La Crescenta’s primary thoroughfare.

At Tuesday’s meeting, the proposed design standards for commercial properties along Foothill Boulevard will be presented. New construction or renovations to commercial use buildings in designated areas will be required to comply with stricter rules.

In a statement released by the Crescenta Valley Town Council, reasons cited for community support for the Community Standards District include easing parking restrictions, removing front setback requirements and the encouragement of pedestrian traffic.

C.V. Town Council President Grace Andrus is hopeful that the community will support the standards. “Passage of the[Community Standards District] would be one of the best things to happen to the area,” she said. “In a nutshell, I support the District.”
