The first official lighting ceremony at Montrose Shopping Park took place with a ceremony accompanied by a marching band, Mrs. Santa Claus, three town criers and free refreshments.

Thirty Years Ago

Arson was suspected in a November 1977 brush fire in the Crescenta Valley, the second to break out within an 8-day period. County fire crews worked alongside Glendale and Pasadena firemen to put out the blaze, which threatened several homes.

Forty Years Ago

Crescenta-Cañada Jaycees named Crescenta Valley High School senior Gayle Lepire and La Cañada High School senior Lydia Stary as their entrants in the 1967-68 National Junior Miss contest sponsored by junior chambers of commerce. Lepire was head captain of the Crescenta Valley Drill Team and a member of the Pep Club.

Fifty Years Ago

Little Rep Theatre in the 2200 block of Honolulu Ave. was presenting “The Hasty Heart,” a stage play featuring actors from the Pasadena Playhouse.
