Inquiring minds want to know

Many individuals have inquired about the vacant land on the corner of Ramsdell Avenue and Foothill Boulevard, enclosed with a chain link fence, scattered with weeds, and hosting one sign from Rich Development.

I told the public it was slated to be a Walgreens sometime on their 10-year plan. The building plans are on our website ( www.yourtowncouncil.org) under Land Use.

On Nov. 29, I spoke with Joe Rich of Rich Development who immediately sent a crew to clear the weeds and cited multiple delays with permits from the county as the reason for their delay.

He further stated that they are “about 30 days away from breaking ground.”

They expect six months of building and an additional 45 days to stock the store, which indeed will be Walgreens, and there have been no plan changes from what is on our website.

The projected opening day is in nine months, about August 2008.

Apologizes for traffic delays

The purpose of this letter is to apologize for the traffic delays that occurred on Tuesday morning, Dec. 4 on Briggs Avenue.

The District was installing a new service connection for the Pickens Spot Park. It was not an emergency job, and work should have been scheduled later in the day so as to avoid high traffic volume during commute time. Future non-emergency jobs will be planned to minimize traffic disruption.

In the future, proposed closures or detours of major streets will be posted on the district’s website and advertised in the local paper as scheduling permits.

Our objective is to perform all operations in the most efficient manner to meet the needs of the community.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and delay experienced during this instance.

Dennis Erdman,

General Manager,

CVWD
