They, the bureaucrats, in my opinion, have come to control city elections and through it the control of taxpayer’s money that goes with it. We are now in a struggle for control of the millions of dollars of revenue the city of Glendale collects every year.
The money that is extricated from taxpayers and ratepayers is placed in a pot from which the City Council will determine how it will be distributed. Except that it isn’t the City Council who is really in control. I have now seen first-hand how the needs of the public, the residents and taxpayers, take second place to the wants, and wishes of the new bureaucrats — in my opinion the Glendale Management Assn.
Imagine — a union of managers. There is an oxymoron if I’ve ever heard one.
In what organization does management need to form a union? For what purpose? For what grievance? It is beyond reason to believe that civil service protections is not enough for them. We have seen how even the most egregious behaviors have gone unpunished or rewarded with an early retirement. So what purpose could such a union serve?
Communities have gone without adequate parkland because there is insufficient money to buy the land. At least that is the mantra we keep hearing. We’ve gone without additional traffic signals to help coordinate and improve traffic flow — well, they are just too expensive. When it comes to fixing the cracked sidewalks — the wait is up to 12 years.
