The joint was jumpin’ at the La Crescenta’s Woman’s Clubhouse on La Crescenta Avenue as some 85 members, husbands and guests turned out in 1940s costumes for their “Sentimental Journey” dinner dance on Saturday night.

A sumptuous meal of beef stroganoff, green beans almandine a la Sally Benson, rolls and yellow and chocolate cake for dessert was served buffet style. Large tables with red tablecloths scattered with 45 records from the 1940s were welcoming. Walls sported large framed photos of big band leaders from the era. The Crescenta Valley High School Jazz Band provided 1940s swing music led by instrumental music teacher Mathew Schick.
