February 08, 2008|By Melinda Burkhart

Cub Scout Pack 314 of St. James the Less Catholic church in La Crescenta experienced high speed racing at the church hall on Saturday, Jan. 26, as the pack ran their annual Pinewood Derby exhibition.

Several scouts were recognized for the time, skill and craftsmanship necessary to create the wood cars. Those who received awards were Wolf Scout Allen Sorlis-Yaghoob for Sportsmanship; Tiger Scout Gavin Lundin received Best Craftsmanship in Car Design; and Tiger Scout Aedan Molina was honored with Most Creative.

Many cars raced, but the three fastest were Bear Scout Sean Feeney — third place; Tiger Scout Dylan Dease — second place; and first year Webelo Stevie Celi took the grand prize.
