Zarian to highlight hospital’s expansion

Glendale Adventist Medical Center executives will appear on the “Larry Zarian Show” Thursday to discuss the impacts of the hospital’s expansion on the greater Glendale area.

Last year, the hospital in northeast Glendale debuted its new seven-story, $120-million tower after four years of construction. The West Tower added 60 beds to its existing stock of 260 and brought with it expanded capacity for new healthcare programs.

It was also the most expensive part of a three-phase expansion plan initiated in 1999 to address an anticipated increase in patient demand. Phase two — estimated to cost $60 million — will see the addition of an elevated, two-story bridge to connect the West Tower with the main campus and new road.

Morre Dean, chief executive officer for the medical center, will discuss the future of the hospital and its role in Glendale’s network of healthcare providers. Gwen Matthews, senior vice-president of clinical services, will also appear on the show to discuss the hospital’s new and expanded services.

A persistent nursing shortage and other labor issues will also be touched on. Zarian’s show airs at 7 p.m. Thursday on Channel 26. The live call-in number is (818) 547-3668.
