Erma Morelli, a senior at Crescenta Valley High School, represented her school at the Miss USA Dance/Drill Pageant held at the Long Beach Sports Arena, where she danced to “My Heart Will Go On,” from the film “Titanic.”

Twenty Years Ago

The spotlight was on Montrose celebrating its 75 years as a community when the Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce held a fashion and general membership meeting at the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club. Fashions from 1913 were featured during the show presented by historian Frances Drucker.

Thirty Years Ago

Following an extensive interior remodeling, Kinney’s shoe store in the 2100 block of Foothill Boulevard held a “grand re-opening” ceremony.

Forty Years Ago

Pat Walker, a 17-year-old blond from La Crescenta, was chosen to represent the Montrose Knights of Columbus in the Rancho San Antonio Queen Contest of 1968. Walker had earlier reigned as Homecoming Queen at St. Francis High School.

Fifty Years Ago

Milt Stevens, a resident of the Crescenta Valley since 1932, was appointed La Crescenta-La Cañada-Montrose area chairman of the committee to reelect Los Angeles County Sheriff Peter Pitchess.
