Freeway pursuit ends in Glendale

A police pursuit that began on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Monrovia ended on the Ventura (134) Freeway at Brand Boulevard when California Highway Patrol officers arrested a woman who allegedly swerved toward a Los Angeles police officer who was assisting a motorist in the far right lane of the 210 Freeway, said CHP Sgt. Ronald Burch.

The woman, who was suspected to be under the influence of a controlled substance, was taken to the Glendale Police station jail to be evaluated, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

“She did resist arrest but was restrained and transported to the jail,” Lorenz said.

The woman could be charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving and resisting arrest, Lorenz said, adding that the California Highway Patrol will determine the charges.

She could also be charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, Burch said.
