Our body has not represented to anyone that there is any reason to doubt the accounting methods employed by the city, nor the independent audit process used to ensure the integrity of the books.
Any perception by the City Council or the public that the Glendale Homeowners Coordinating Council is entertaining the idea of performing, initiating or even supporting an independent audit of the city’s budget is unfounded, without merit and could not have originated from the coordinating council.
Any discussions we have had over the years with regard to the budget have been issues of policy from the council.
We have never had a discussion nor entertained the notion that the work of the city staff members to ensure the accuracy of the city’s accounting could be called into question.
We are also troubled that Councilman Bob Yousefian may have led the council and the public to believe that discussions about this issue have taken place between himself and the board of the Glendale Homeowners Coordinating Council.
With the exception of an impromptu, unscheduled and unsolicited presentation Yousefian made before the coordinating council — for which there was no comment or discussion from either the board nor our members — the issue has never been raised.
The board of the coordinating council has neither met individually nor collectively with Yousefian on this issue and has not received any request to do so.
For Yousefian to imply that he has had any discussions or deliberations with the coordinating council board on this issue, or to attempt to enlist our support for his political positions by linking our organization to this issue publicly in the press, is beneath the dignity of his office.
Whatever discussions Yousefian has had on this issue, they have not been with us.
