“Now, I still know that I have to work hard.”

Crescenta Valley Coach John Pehar said Yu, who helped the Falcons capture the team championship at the 45th installment of the De Bell Golf Course High School Invitational in March, could be relied upon to provide quality performances throughout the past four years.

“He basically went from being a junior member on the varsity team to becoming a role model the last two years,” Pehar said. “My emphasis is about it being about the team, and he was a total team builder.

“At the same time, he improved with his individual game. He wasn’t a lucky player. He was just consistently a good player.”

If Yu can be the same type player next year at Glendale college, then the Vaqueros might have found a keeper for the next two seasons.

“I still have to continue to work harder,” Yu said. “There’s going to be a lot of good players next year at GCC.”

With more confidence and a strong outing at some tournaments throughout the next couple of months, Yu figures to be in the big picture.
