5K Walk for Foster Care July 26 at 8 a.m. 5K Walk around the Rose Bowl; enjoy a concert, children’s fun area with jumpers, petting zoo and crafts, kids commercial auditions, foster care anthem sing-along. Also parenting, mentoring and adoption classes and more. Registration begins at 7 a.m., programs and seminars begins at 10 a.m. and concerts start at noon. Performers include Evelyn “Champaign” King, Smokey Norful, Goapele, Howard Johnson and Impromp2.

CHILDREN’S EVENTS

Twilight Night at Kidspace Aug. 1 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The entire museum, including the Digging Deeper Gallery, 2.2 acres of gardens and the new Star Station: Planetarium Experience will be open for guests to explore. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner to enjoy in the Kidspace Gardens. Activities will include chalk drawing, face painting, music, tricycle rides and nature walks and kids will have the opportunity to meet a bearded dragon, observe a beehive, scale a rock wall and more. Admission is $5 per person.

Kidspace is located at 480 N. Arroyo Blvd., in Brookside Park, Pasadena. Free parking is available in Rose Bowl Parking Lot I.

CLASSES

BookmakingJuly 26, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Book-design artist Wendy Poma will teach the step-by-step process of making books, using a wide variety of papers from around the world. Participants will leave class with a beautiful set of three books. All materials are supplied by the instructor. No previous bookmaking experience is required. Fees: $25 ($20 Descanso members), plus a $22 materials fee payable to Wendy Poma. To register, call (818) 949-7980.

Family Fun for Nature Nuts: “Feathers & Flight”— July 29 at 5:30 p.m. Joe Suffredini of Avian Entertainment introduces various birds of prey and explains how these powerful animals live and play high in the sky.
