Police commission to be considered

The Glendale City Council will hold a special study session to discuss the feasibility of forming a police advisory board or commission on Aug. 26.

Mayor John Drayman called for the study session last week in light of a growing number of public complaints of police misconduct and racial insensitivity.

The initial will be the first of what could be multiple study sessions to determine the need of a so-called police commission, how it would operate and what its functions would be.

City officials are encouraging all members of the public to attend the meeting, which is scheduled to take place from 10 to 11:30 a.m., in City Council Chambers, City Hall, 613 E. Broadway. The meeting will also be broadcast live on GTV 6 and video-streamed on the city’s website at www.ci. glendale.ca.us.
