Democratic Club changes name

The La Cañada Flintridge Democratic Club has voted to change its name to Cañada Crescenta Democratic Club. The Club has 25% of its members from La Crescenta. The Club will expand the area in which it conducts Get Out The Vote activities to include both La Cañada and La Crescenta.

Blood drive being held Saturday

A blood drive is being held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 6 next to Starbucks near the UA Theater. All donors will receive a free Starbucks coffee and a Goldstein’s bagel.

Most people are eligible to donate blood. Common daily medications are usually not a problem as long as one isn’t taking an antibiotic specifically for an infection. Donors must be at least 17 years old, in overall good health and have not gotten new tattoos in the last 12 months.

Local projects on planning agendas

A proposed addition of a car wash at Rocky’s Union Service 76 at 3402 Foothill Blvd. is on the Sept. 11 agenda of the Glendale Design Review Board 2. The meeting begins at 5 p.m. at 633 E. Broadway #103 in Glendale. The city of Los Angeles will hold a hearing for a request for a conditional use permit for a five-unit apartment complex on Glenada Way in Montrose on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 9 a.m., Room 150, Hall of Records, 320 W. Temple St. in Los Angeles.
