Carrying a torch for the environment

September 05, 2008

The Committee for a Clean & Beautiful Glendale and its community partners have announced a fundraising event for Saturday, Sept. 20. The “Torch Run for the Environment” will have individual runners carry a torch for a quarter mile on a route from Crescenta Valley Park to the closing ceremony at Cerritos Park in Glendale where an Eco Expo will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Proceeds will fund anti-litter and graffiti prevention educational programs for Glendale, Montrose and La Crescenta youth.

The Committee is actively seeking community sponsorships for all businesses and individuals who are dedicated to environmental issues by “going green.” As part of the program, A Guide to a Greener Glendale – Protecting & Enhancing the Environment will be produced featuring useful ecological information, cost saving tips and highlights and photos from the Torch Run for the Environment.

This keepsake book will be distributed to participants and residents timed to coincide with Earth Day 2009.
