The Glendale Historical Society is hosting a self-guided home tour. Modestly Modern Glendale takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12 and showcases the “mid-20th century masterpieces that you’ve never heard of.” The cost is $20 for society members, $30 for non-members. The tour includes five homes and an informative guidebook.

Note that tickets will not be mailed but can be picked up on the tour day at the starting point located in the city parking lot at the southwest corner of Verdugo Road and Mountain Street.

Tickets may be purchased online at www.glendalehistorical.org. For those unable to attend the tour, donations can still be made to The Glendale Historical Society.

‘Wicked Wines’ being served up

Soroptimist International of Glendale is holding its fifth annual wine tasting fundraising event on Oct. 22. “Wicked Wines” is the theme and will be presented from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Glen Oaks Escrow at 6100 San Fernando Road (at the corner of Grandview) in Glendale. The cost is $25 per person. The event includes hors d’oeuvres and dessert and opportunity drawings will be held. Payment can be mailed to P.O. Box 826, Glendale, CA 91209. Hospital’s big fundraiser is Nov. 1

The Women’s Council of Verdugo Hills Hospital Foundation will host the 25th Annual Main Event, “Dreams of Fall,” at the Glendale Hilton Hotel at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1.

The hospital’s annual fundraising event will include dinner, dancing, live and silent auctions and live entertainment.

The funds raised at this year’s Main Event will be used for the hospital’s emergency room, primarily for the purchase of telemetry and pediatric equipment.

Last year, the event raised more than $220,000 toward the purchase of digital mammography equipment for VHH.

Individual tickets to the Main Event cost $150 and table sponsorships are $1,200 for a table of eight.
