Supervisor is on residents’ side

Thank you, Supervisor Michael Antonovich, for your quick action (“Montrose home may be saved,” Friday) in calling for a review of the Regional Planning Commission’s recent decision regarding 2128 Glenada Ave. in Montrose.

Many in the community have voiced opposition to the five-unit residential complex proposed for that location.

Concerns about the negative impact such a development would have on the immediate area near the corner of Glenada and Honolulu avenues, as well as the loss of the Craftsman-style home itself, galvanized residents and community members to get involved. Without their actions during the last few years, the supervisor would have had no way of even knowing about the significance of this property.

At least now the project decision will have a second review.

As supervisor for the 5th District, Antonovich has consistently worked with constituents and other government agencies to help preserve the quality of life in the Crescenta Valley. Your efforts are appreciated, supervisor.

Food critics are lenient on taste

I have been reading the Glendale News-Press’ Dining Out column written by Joanna Linkchorst and Christine Putnam for a few years now. I’ve come to the conclusion that the column isn’t meant to be a restaurant critique. I say this because it’s apparent that Linkchorst and Putnam have never met a restaurant they didn’t like. I’m sure our local dining establishments must be starving for a visit by either of the Dining Out divas, knowing full well that a glowing review will soon follow. With restaurants at a 90% failure rate, they can’t all be great.

Letter writer and Schiff are wrong

Richard Bennett is wrong (“More drilling won’t make gas prices any cheaper,” Community Commentary, Thursday) and so is Rep. Adam Schiff. It’s plain and simple, folks: Bennett is wrong about oil drilling, every energy expert disagrees with Bennett, and Schiff is going to be voted out of here for his connections to Sen. Barack Obama.

Schiff and Obama have proven to be socialists, “spreading the wealth around,” and the people will get to voice their choice for democracy.
