CLASSES

Computer Lessons for Seniors — The Crescenta-Cañada Family YMCA is offering free computer lessons to teach senior citizens basic computer skills. The lessons are made possible by Adam Berkeley, a volunteer at the YMCA. Berkeley has past experience with computers due to computer based professions in telecommunications and real estate.

Lessons are available by appointment and can be taken until the student feels comfortable on the computer. To make an appointment contact Nancy Turner (818) 790-0123 ext. 225 or nturney@ymcacc.org.

Pasadena Women’s Connection Nov. 12, at 11:30 a.m. A “Purses on the Go” luncheon and program will held by the Pasadena Women’s Connection at Brookside Country Club , 1133 N. Rosemont, Pasadena. Ashley Cope, public relations coordinator for Harveys/The Original Seatbeltbag Co. will be showing the latest beautiful and original Harveys purses made from seatbelts. Sauni Rinehart, associate professor, will sing and speak on “To Plan or Not to Plan That is the Question.” Tickets are $18. Art on Palm: Street Art Fair Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The biannual outdoor event Art on Palm will feature the works of 30 local artists and artisans.

The artwork for show and sale includes ceramics, collages, jewelry, paintings, photography, prints, sketches, textiles and woodwork. Admission is free to the event, which will be held at 1419 E. Palm Street in Altadena; free parking can be found on the surrounding streets.

EXHIBITIONS

“Oil, Water, and Clay Make a Creative Mix” Through Nov. 13. Featuring the work of Miriam Balcazar, Belinda Del Pesco and Trish Kertes. The art gallery is located in the Carriage House adjacent to the Boddy House, Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Drive , La Cañada. For information call (818) 949-4200 or Gallery (818) 949-0125.

Gallery admission is free with Garden admission.

The Contemporary Crafts Market Oct. 31- Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This year’s market will feature the works of over 250 artists.

All items on display and for sale have been jury selected for their exceptional quality. Held at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, 1855 Main St., on the corner of Pico Boulevard.

Show hours are Admission is $7 for adults and children under 12 are free.
