Doug Davidson, who created the role of Paul Williams on TV’s “The Young and the Restless” and his wife, actress Cindy Fisher, were among the participants when the Crescenta-Cañada YMCA held a fundraiser for its Outreach program at Dominick’s Italian Restaurant in La Crescenta. The program was put in place to help teens and their parents solve problems and change their lives for the better.

Thirty Years Ago

The Glendale Federal Savings Community Room in Montrose was the venue for the November 1978 Christmas Boutique staged by the Verdugo Hills Hospital Women’s Council. The home of Dorothy Buck, boutique chairman, reportedly looked like Santa’s workshop all year long, with local craftswomen making ornaments, centerpieces, wall hangings and gifts to tempt holiday shoppers.

Cecile B. DeMille’s “The Ten Commandments,” starring Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner and Anne Baxter, was filling the seats at Montrose Theatre on Honolulu Avenue, where adult tickets then cost $1.25 and youngsters could see movies for 50 cents.
