Generous response for food drive

Boy Scout Troop 288 that undertook the recent Scouting for Food event in the foothills reports “outstanding participation” in the program by Scout families and local residents who donated product. According to Assistant Scoutmaster Todd Neubrand, based on averaging weight, approximately 6,000 pounds of food was processed, which is over twice as much as last year. Neighborhood Packs and Troops gathered the donations from local residents. A crew from Troop 288 helped drop off the donations at two local food distribution sites in Tujunga and Sunland and still had food left over. The last of the donations went to the Burbank Salvation Army.

Neubrand said that all of the food pantries were very happy to receive the much needed food and added that, “It’s nice to think that the work [of our Scouts] will make the holiday season a little better for those who are not as fortunate as we are at this time.”
