Girl Scouts’ ‘Green Saturday’ is Dec. 6

This Saturday, Dec. 6, hundreds of Girl Scouts from the greater Los Angeles area will be participating in “Green Saturday,” a service opportunity that will include numerous environmentally-themed community service projects and activities.

Local scouts will be focusing on plant beautification of the Montrose Program Center, also known as the “Scout House,” at 2732 Montrose Ave.

Crescenta Valley Girl Scout Troop 9261 is organizing the activity as part of their Silver Award Project. The troop hopes to create awareness about the importance of planting California native plants and conserving water through this special landscaping project.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Girl Scouts will help beautify the council’s newly renovated Montrose Program Center by landscaping and planting native plants.

Green Saturday is the first large-scale event planned for the newly formed Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles Council (GSGLA), which began operations on Dec. 1, after merging six regional councils into one.
