Maeda and the executive board have selected Jenny Schwing and Linda Fors as co-chairwomen of the event, and they have chosen a Western-themed evening featuring chuck wagon meal and entertainment. Western dress is encouraged.
Schwing of La Crescenta has raised more than $1 million during her past 15 years with public and private schools as well as churches and scouting. A parent of two Eagle Scout sons, she is also enrolled at UCLA in a Fundraising Certificate Program.
Fors, of La Cañada Flintridge, has reared two Eagle Scout sons and a Girl Scout Gold Award-winning daughter. A Scout and Den leader as well as PTA president, Fors and her husband, Dennis Fors, the Verdugo Hills Council chairman, have both held many positions with this as well as the San Gabriel Valley Council.
Reservations are now being accepted and can be made by calling the Scout offices at (818) 243-6282. Tickets are $50 per person.
Funds raised benefit scouting opportunities for young men in the cities of Glendale, Burbank, La Crescenta, La Canada Flintridge, Tujunga, Sunland, Eagle Rock and large sections of Los Angeles County.
WOMAN’S CLUB DONATES EYEWEAR TO FOUNDATION
The La Crescenta Woman’s Club in December donated a bag of used eyeglasses, sunglasses and frames, which they had been collecting for the past year, to the Beeve Foundation, one of the club’s many charities.
All of these articles are recycled by the foundation. Woman’s Club member Eloise Nichol presented the donation to ophthalmologist Scott Beeve.
“Not everyone can donate $2,400 to sponsor a Beeve Clinic Volunteer, but almost everyone can save old eye glasses and frames to help preserve or improve the sight of others,” Nichol said.
