Ophthalmologist Jerold Beeve and son Scott Beeve are well known for their foundation’s annual trip to Fiji to serve its native population, giving the gift of sight to the underprivileged from 100 populated islands that comprise the country of Fiji. Each year the Beeve Foundation sends 22-plus medical volunteers from the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

In January, the foundation set up its 18th clinic in Savusavu, Fiji, despite the devastating conditions created by Cyclone Gene’s high winds, heavy rains, floods, washed out roads, fallen trees, the grounding of inter island planes, and intermittent power outages which lasted two hours at a time.
