PCH comes to Montrose

If you like classic rock with an acoustic sound to accompany your Saturday night socializing, the New Moon Restaurant in Montrose has a sound to stimulate your senses and send your appetite into overdrive.

PCH — a group of Los Angeles area musicians that includes lead singer David Blassucci of La Cañada — is the entertainment every Saturday night from 7 to 10 p.m. at the restaurant, located at 2138 Verdugo Blvd. in Montrose.

Blasucci enjoys singing with the band because, “It’s a great group of guys and I’m having the most fun I’ve ever had,” he said, adding, “The musicianship is outstanding and we all get along so well. We get in the zone from the first note we play, and the whole world goes away.”

The band has been together for about 10 years and includes Blasucci, who sings lead and plays guitar; Pat Thomi of Culver City who plays lead guitar and sings; Trent Stroh of Santa Clarita who plays upright string and electric bass; and Charles Frichtel of Culver City who plays percussion and bass and also sings.

The band’s musicians also play or have played professionally with such artists as Chuck Mangione, Michael McDonald, Frank Sinatra, Eddie Money, Nancy Sinatra and Toto artist Bobby Kimball.

Frichtel also is known for singing the theme song to the NBC syndicated sitcom “Saved by the Bell.”

PCH performs music from a variety of 60s and 70s rock artists including James Taylor, Eric Clapton, Steely Dan, Chicago, Paul McCartney, the Beatles, Jackson Brown, Seals and Croft, Neil Young and the Eagles.

Blasucci said he prefers performing close to home in an environment he enjoys. He grew up in Wheaton, Ill., and moved to Encino in 1987. Sixteen years ago, he moved to La Cañada with his family — wife, Loa, and their four children: Sammy, a freshman at La Cañada High School; Sadie, a freshman at Brigham Young University, Idaho; Thomas, a junior at BYU, Utah; and Chet, a recent graduate of Utah University.
