News from the C.V. Chamber of Commerce:

Shine at the Hometown Country Fair

February 20, 2009

“Begin doing what you want to do now. We are not on this earth for eternity. We have only this moment, sparkling like a star in our hand and melting like a snowflake.”

Marie Beynon Ray

Don’t melt like a snowflake be a sparkling star! How about being the ‘star’ of the fourth annual Crescenta Valley Hometown Country Fair? The fair needs YOU! Being a fair sponsor (our sparkling star) is one of the best advertising dollars you can spend. We are now looking for a few good sponsors. For only $500, you can have your business name and logo prominently listed in all newspaper advertising, on our website (LaCrescenta.org), on all flyers and posters distributed around the entire Crescenta Valley, an ad in our chamber newsletter and your banner will be displayed at the fair on April 24th and April 25th. This fair is going to be the biggest ever with carnival rides, BBQ and entertainment for Friday evening, April 24th and then Saturday, April 25th will feature carnival rides, a car show, live animals, craft vendors, games, yummy food, live entertainment and much more.

If being a ‘sparkling star sponsor’ is not for you, we would still love to have you join us. You can set up a vendor booth, or bring an antique car, or be involved behind the scenes with helping organizers, or just come on April 24-25 to join us for a great Hometown Country Fair. This is a great way for the entire Crescenta Valley to have a home town exciting time. If you would like to have a vendor booth, enter your antique car, or be involved in any way, please call our office at (818) 248-4957.

And don’t forget these two sparkling stars for their grand opening ribbon cutting celebrations. Join us on Thursday, Feb. 26 at Modella Uniforms, 3115 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta and on March 4, at Only Helpful Books.com, in the same complex at 3115 Foothill Blvd, La Crescenta. Join us at 4 p.m. on both of these days to welcome these two new businesses.

And meet another sparkling star tonight, Feb. 20, at the ‘Meet, Greet and Eat’ party at Dream Dinners when owner Lissa Mooney introduces her new business partner, Sharmel Stern. Say ‘hi,’ enjoy some delicious food and drink, play Dream Dinners Trivia and win raffle prizes. Join us at 4121 Pennsylvania Ave. Unit F in La Crescenta, tonight, Friday, Feb. 20 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

What is it that you want to do, that you have not started yet? This is the moment let’s get started together. Do it before you melt like a snowflake. Come visit our office or join us at an upcoming event and be a sparkling star. Please call our office for more information about any event or to find out how we can help you overcome inertia.

Important dates: Feb 20 — Dream Dinners; Feb 26 — Ribbon cutting Modella Uniforms; March 4 — Ribbon cutting at Only Helpful Books.com; March 11 — Pre-Smart mixer at Bob Smith Toyota; March 15 — Santa Anita Day at the Races; March 25 — Smart-a-Thon luncheon; April 24 & 25 — 4th Annual Hometown Country Fair.
