Glendale Adventist receives award

The American Stroke Assn. has given Glendale Adventist Medical Center an award recognizing its commitment to high standards of treatment, the hospital announced Wednesday.

The hospital received the award at the association’s International Stroke Conference 2009, which took place last week in San Diego.

To receive the award, the hospital had to implement a set of strict guidelines and use some of the most aggressive medications for treating stroke-related symptoms.

Credit union employees honored

Lockheed Federal Credit Union employees donated more than 400 hours of community service and $65,000 to area service organizations in 2008, the company announced last week.

Burbank Temporary Aid Center was one of the four San Fernando Valley organizations to receive money or volunteer support from the 105 employees who participated in the credit union’s Volunteer-Time-Off program, according to a press release.

More than $16,000 went to Burbank Temporary Aid Center.

The credit union’s Volunteer-Time-Off program allows employees to get up to eight hours of paid time off while volunteering in the community.
