Montrose – Verdugo City Chamber:

Turn forward that clock, and say a prayer

March 06, 2009

Here we are — already in March and it is daylight saving time. One of the things I look forward to this weekend is the time change. Yes, on March 8 we will “spring forward.” It is a proven fact that smoke detectors save lives, so remember to replace the batteries on your smoke detector(s) when changing your clocks this weekend.

Did you know in hard economic times, businesses that maintain their marketing come back stronger? There are ways to market smarter and your Chamber is one of those sources you can utilize for your business. We are here to help our members — take advantage of us.

Are you an early riser? The Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast is next week on Thursday, March 12 at the Glendale Civic Auditorium, located at 1401 N. Verdugo Road. The doors open at 6:15 a.m.; breakfast begins at 6:30 a.m. and the program at 7 a.m. The tickets are $20; $18 for seniors and clergy and includes free parking. Keynote speaker Tom Dreesen will speak on: “There are no secrets — the secret is you!” Call us; we have tickets for sale here in the office.

There is still room if you would like to attend our annual installation dinner on March 10 at the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club. Come and be a part of this exciting time to recognize your community and meet your new board of directors.

We all know an act of kindness is a wonderful feeling. The Glendale Humane Society’s Second Chance Program is a great way to feel this. They are a rare organization with a no kill facility, but they need our help. For $25 and a tax deduction, you can make a difference and sponsor a dog or cat. Your sponsorship will allow these pets to have their photo placed in the paper with the hope that a kind, loving pet lover will adopt them into their home. Contact Audri at (818) 790-8774 to pledge your help.

Thank you Chamber members who have renewed their membership dues; we really appreciate your support:

Girl Scouts Mt. Wilson Vista Council, Fat Cat DJ Services, The Antique House, Montrose Bakery and The Gas Company.

Did you know we distribute over 9,000 directories in the community? Is there any better way to advertise? We still have room for your ad…

We need your e-mail address; send it to make sure you are always connected to the Chamber.

The Chamber is located at 3516 N. Verdugo Road in Glendale and can be reached by telephone (818) 249-7171 or by e-mail mvcc@montrosechamber.org.
