The Crescenta Valley Falcons U12 basketball team was seeded second heading into playoffs. The playoffs between the top four teams were held at Glendale High School this past weekend. With a No. 1 vs. No. 4 playoff format, the Falcons played the Glendale Panthers in the first round. The Falcons pulled out the victory with a convincing 14-point win. This set up the expected game between the Valley Jaguars and the Falcons. The two teams split the regular season games, each taking two.
After one quarter of play the teams were even with the score tied at 11. In the second, the Jaguars got hot and raced out to a nine-point halftime lead. During halftime the Falcon’s Head Coach Mike Gayle fired up his squad.
The Falcons came out flying high in the third quarter with a 15-0 run. Starting the fourth, Coach Gayle did not let up utilizing his full court press that turned out to be too much for the Jaguars. In the fourth quarter, the Falcons put up an amazing 31 points behind that press to take the final game 65-54. The Falcons out rebounded the Jags 40-21.
