BOB YOUSEFIAN

How will you pull the city through the economic downturn and resulting budget gaps?

I will exercise extreme caution on any spending initiatives and will focus on and support only the most essential city services and programs. I will not support any agenda that will jeopardize our ability to maintain a balanced budget.

I will work to reduce the city's dependence and usage of outside consultants.

I will ask that city staff improve its risk management policies with the goal to substantially reduce Glendale's general liability and litigation costs

I will support reductions to city staff through attrition.

Explain your position on Measure U.

I am confident that the citizens of Glendale will make an informed vote on this matter and will respect their decision.

Explain your plan for retaining existing businesses and attracting new ones amid this harsh economic climate.

I will work to promote Glendale as a business-friendly, low-cost municipal environment

I will immediately move to put a three-year moratorium on increasing fees to businesses.

I will seek innovative methods to permanently reduce such fees currently imposed on existing and new companies considering Glendale as a location for their businesses

I will work to reduce electric fees for small businesses.

I will strive to establish consistency and predictability during every phase of the permitting and approving process for all projects developed in the city.

Upon taking office, what would your top two priorities be, excluding the budget issue?

I will move to implement gasification technology at the Scholl Canyon landfill. Doing so will enhance the long-term viability of the landfill along with increasing the revenue-generating potential of the site.

I will promote the San Fernando Road Corridor as an ideal hub for existing and new 21st-century companies with an emphasis on high-paying jobs in the green technology sector.
