BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Chadwick 3, Flintridge Prep 2: The Rebels, ranked fourth in CIF Southern Section Division V, squared off against Prep League rival and the division’s second-ranked squad and fell in a see-saw battle on Tuesday at Chadwick, 23-25, 25-14, 25-27, 25-17, 15-13.

“Very competitive match, it could’ve gone either way,” Flintridge Prep Coach Sean Beattie said. “We made too many errors, especially in the fifth game.

“They made fewer mistakes than we did and that was the difference.”

Gavin Thomson had 29 kills to lead the Rebels (12-4, 2-1 in league), while Kenyatta Smith had 11 kills and six blocks.

Steven Morse added 44 assists.

SOFTBALL

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 10, Westridge 0 (5 innings): The Tologs, ranked eighth in CIF Southern Section Division III, won their ninth straight game on Tuesday, improving to 10-2.

Jessica Ferri got the win in the circle.

BOYS’ GOLF

Viewpoint 201, Flintridge Prep 240, Santa Clarita Christian 303: Jack McLaughlin carded a nine-over-par 45 and teammate Josh Kim followed with a 46 for the Rebels, who finished second in a Prep League tri-match on Tuesday at TPC Valencia Golf Course.

Tracey Cheun carded a 47, Patrick Hilson shot a 48 and Richard Lo shot a 54 for Prep (7-10, 4-5 in league).

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

Westridge 104, Flintridge Prep 56: Patricia Clark, Elaine Park, Kate Wolley and Sally Suzuki placed second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 2 minutes 6.62 seconds in a Prep League home meet on Tuesday.

WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD

Glendale Community College in Coast Classic: Samantha Bogatz had an outstanding day at Orange Coast College on Friday, as she was part of wins in three events and set her third school record this season in the 200-meter race with a mark of 24.68 seconds.

Bogatz also won the 100 in 12.11 and was on the winning 4x100 relay team (48.24) along with Ashley Baucham, Janette Morfin and Melanie Artoun-Livskan.

Morfin also won the 400 in a personal-best 58.66 and Baucham won the high jump (5 feet 4 inches). Zitlalic Ley won the 3,000 steeplechase in 11:19.68.

MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD

Glendale Community College in Coast Classic: Jonathan Alpizar turned in a second-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at Orange Coast College in 9 minutes 45.60 seconds and Francisco Quijada was third in a personal-best 9:50.58. Nathan Sellers was third in the 3,000 in a personal-best 8:45.79.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

L.A. Mission College 6-8, Glendale Community College 2-7: The Vaqueros dropped a Western State Conference doubleheader on Thursday to fall to 10-28 overall and 4-17 in conference.
